Display Full Size Images in Firefox - How To

Controlling Image Scaling in Firefox
By default, Firefox automatically adjusts the size of large images to fit within the browser's viewport. This behavior, while intended to improve the browsing experience, can be undesirable when viewing images at their original dimensions is preferred.
A practical example of this can be observed when viewing high-resolution wallpapers. Consider, for instance, the Ubuntu wallpaper available here. Initially, the image appears scaled down.
To view the image in its full resolution, a user must then click on it. This automatic resizing can be disabled through a configuration change within Firefox.
Disabling Automatic Image Resizing
The following steps outline how to prevent Firefox from automatically scaling images:
- In the Firefox address bar, type about:config and press Enter.
- Within the configuration search bar, enter browser.enable and press Enter.
- Locate the preference browser.enable_automatic_image_resizing in the search results.
- Double-click on this preference to toggle its value to false.
After completing these steps, Firefox will no longer automatically resize images to fit the browser window, displaying them at their original size instead.
This adjustment allows users to view images, such as the 1280x1024 Ubuntu wallpaper, without the need to manually click to reveal the full-size version.
