Lucid Gravity SUV Gains Tesla Supercharger Access

Lucid Gravity Owners to Access Tesla Supercharging Network
Beginning January 31st, those who own the all-electric Lucid Gravity SUV will be granted access to Tesla’s Supercharging network.
The Gravity represents Lucid’s second vehicle offering, following the introduction of the Air sedan. It is the first model from Lucid engineered with charge ports that are directly compatible with Tesla’s NACS (North American Charging Standard) plugs.
NACS Adoption and Adapter Availability
Lucid Air owners will also be able to utilize the Tesla Supercharger network, but will require adapters. Access for Air owners is scheduled to become available during the second quarter of the year.
Throughout 2023, a significant number of automotive manufacturers, including Ford, General Motors, Hyundai, Rivian, and Mercedes-Benz, declared their intention to integrate Tesla’s charging standard into their future electric vehicle models.
This move aims to provide drivers with access to Tesla’s extensive and reliable charging infrastructure. Currently, automakers are supplying adapters to existing EV owners.
These adapters allow vehicles equipped with CCS (Combined Charging Standard) ports to charge at Tesla Supercharger locations.
Phased Rollout and Gravity’s Powertrain
Tesla is implementing access for non-Tesla EVs in phases. This is due to ongoing updates to both EV software and the Tesla charging equipment itself.
The timing explains the delay between initial Gravity deliveries to employees and early adopters in December and the official access date to the Supercharger network.
Lucid will also provide adapters for Gravity owners, enabling them to utilize charging stations equipped with CCS plugs.
Advanced Powertrain Capabilities
Emad Dlala, Lucid’s VP of Powertrain, stated that the company has developed a new, high-performance 926V powertrain for the Gravity.
This powertrain facilitates charging speeds of up to 400 kW when connected to 1000V charging equipment.
The system incorporates an advanced cooling system, offering improved thermal capacity for sustained performance.
