Linktree Monetization: New Features for Creators

Linktree Introduces New Monetization Tools for Creators
Linktree is introducing a suite of innovative features designed to empower creators to generate revenue directly through the platform. These new capabilities encompass the sale of online courses, earnings from brand-sponsored links, and the creation of integrated, shoppable storefronts.
Expanding Beyond a Simple Link-in-Bio Service
The introduction of these monetization options positions Linktree distinctively within the competitive landscape of similar platforms, such as Beacons and Shorby. It represents a significant expansion of Linktree’s core functionality beyond a simple link-in-bio service.
Furthermore, these developments allow Linktree to directly challenge established creator monetization platforms like Patreon.
Course Creation and Monetization
To facilitate the building and selling of courses, Linktree has established a partnership with Kajabi. This collaboration enables creators to capitalize on their expertise and knowledge.
For instance, a fitness professional can distribute workout routines, or a musician can impart their skills through instructional courses. Creators retain control over course pricing and can begin earning revenue via Stripe integration.
Simplified Digital Product Sales
Linktree is streamlining the process for creators to market and sell digital products, including e-books, templates, and guides. Previously, this was achievable through SendOwl integration.
Now, creators can sell digital products directly on Linktree, eliminating the need for a third-party platform. This allows Linktree to implement a transaction fee on digital goods, with rates varying based on the creator’s Linktree subscription plan.
This launch follows Patreon’s introduction of one-time digital product sales a year prior. Creators maintain control over the pricing of their digital offerings on Linktree.
A Vision for Accessible Knowledge Sharing
“Creators, and countless individuals globally, possess valuable knowledge and skills to share,” stated Linktree CEO Alex Zaccaria in an interview with TechCrunch. “Our aim is to make sharing and monetizing that expertise significantly more accessible.”
Commission-Based Shopping and Sponsored Links
All Linktree users in the U.S. now have the ability to establish a shop and earn commissions on product sales. These shops feature products from well-known brands like Target, Amazon, Lululemon, and Revolve.
Alternatively, creators can integrate affiliate links directly into their Linktree profiles.
Brands can now directly compensate creators for prominent placement on their Linktree pages through sponsored links. For example, a creator could receive payment when a follower subscribes to Hulu via their Linktree. These sponsored links will be clearly identified as such.
Native Advertising and Incentive Programs
“Creators will be able to utilize these sponsored links on their Linktree,” Zaccaria explained. “Initially, payment will be based on attribution or conversion, but we plan to expand this to include cost-per-click and cost-per-impression models, moving beyond traditional affiliate marketing to offer native advertising options on Linktree.”
Linktree is also launching “Rewards,” a new incentive program that provides creators with benefits like increased commissions upon reaching specific milestones. This program may also facilitate direct collaborations with brands.
A Unified Earnings Wallet
A new “wallet” feature will be available to all Linktree creators, consolidating earnings from all monetization features. Zaccaria noted that this wallet was initially in beta for Linktree Shops.
“All earnings, whether from courses, digital products, sponsored links, or the Linktree Shop, will be deposited into this single wallet,” he said. “This simplifies earnings management for creators.”
Empowering a Vast Creator Base
Linktree anticipates that these newly announced features will enable its user base of over 70 million creators to establish sustainable income streams. Creators can access these monetization tools through the new “Earn” section within their Linktree account, accessible via both the app and web interface.
