Linktree and PayPal Partner for Global Direct Payments

Linktree and PayPal Partner to Facilitate Global Direct Payments
Linktree, a widely used “link in bio” platform boasting over 16 million users, is collaborating with PayPal to broaden the reach of its recently introduced “Commerce Links.” This expansion will enable direct payment acceptance on Linktree on a global scale.
The Melbourne-based company confirms that creators in more than 200 countries – all locations where PayPal is operational – can now utilize these transaction tools to receive funds.
Commerce Links: Streamlined Payments
Introduced in March, Commerce Links provide a method for users to receive payments directly through their Linktree profile, eliminating the need to navigate to a new browser window or tab.
This new integration allows Linktree customers to connect their existing PayPal accounts and accept payments from their audience via PayPal balance, debit card, or credit card.
Linktree also highlights that users will have access to detailed transaction information, including payment conversion rates, designed to assist creators in effectively managing their online presence.
A Focus on the Creator Economy
“The creator economy is experiencing significant growth, and creators are actively seeking streamlined methods for receiving payments and support from their audience,” stated Alex Zaccaria, co-founder and CEO of Linktree.
“We are pleased to partner with PayPal to enhance our solutions for users worldwide, empowering them to better manage and monetize their digital footprint.”
Types of Commerce Links Available
Creators can leverage two distinct types of Commerce Links to facilitate payments:
- “Support Me Link” – Enables Linktree users to collect payments and donations from visitors.
- “Request Links” – Allows customers and followers to request goods or services directly from creators via their Linktree profile.
Recent Developments and Expansion
This collaboration with PayPal represents the latest in a series of initiatives focused on supporting creators.
The announcement follows closely after Linktree’s acquisition of Songlink/Odesli, an automated music link aggregation platform.
Linktree is currently integrating Songlink/Odesli into its new “Music Link” feature, which automatically displays a song or album across various music streaming platforms, allowing users to listen on their preferred service.
Competitive Landscape and Funding
Established in 2016, Linktree now operates in a competitive market alongside other “link in bio” platforms such as Shorby, Linkin.bio, and Beacons.
In March, the company announced a $45 million Series B funding round, led by Index Ventures and Coatue, with participation from AirTree Ventures and Insight Partners.
