Levity: No-Code AI Workflow Automation

Levity, a company that has been developing privately until recently, has entered the no-code market with the announcement of $1.7 million in pre-seed funding, spearheaded by Gil Dibner’s Angular Ventures. This Berlin-based startup aims to make the power of AI-driven workflow automation accessible to everyone, empowering professionals to automate routine, repetitive tasks without requiring coding expertise.

Designed to be versatile, Levity is applicable to a wide range of departments including customer service, marketing, operations, and human resources. The company has chosen to offer a broadly applicable solution from the outset. Common, time-consuming activities suitable for automation include the review and classification of documents, images, and textual content. The core idea is that traditional, rule-based automation systems often fall short when dealing with tasks demanding cognitive skills, typically resulting in manual completion.

“Our goal is to address the issue of professionals dedicating significant time to uninspiring, repetitive work that could be automated, freeing them to focus on more engaging and valuable activities,” explains Gero Keil, co-founder and CEO. “Despite decades of promises surrounding AI, there are limited solutions available, and even fewer designed for individuals without technical coding skills.”

Keil emphasizes that Levity’s central purpose is to enable non-technical professionals to automate processes previously beyond their reach. The startup specifically targets workflows involving decision-making based on unstructured data formats like images, text, PDFs, and other document types.

“Consider a scenario where a company receives a large volume of emails from partners and customers, each containing attachments. Traditionally, an employee would need to download each attachment, examine it, and determine the appropriate course of action,” Keil illustrates. “Levity allows users to train a customized AI model using their existing historical data. Once trained, this AI seamlessly integrates with their current tools and platforms, such as Dropbox, Gmail, and Slack.”

More generally, he notes that many organizations encounter difficulties in implementing AI effectively and could greatly benefit from a comprehensive platform that facilitates the creation of custom AI solutions and their integration into existing processes.

Keil identifies manual work as Levity’s primary competition, while acknowledging overlap with automation, machine learning tools, workflow automation platforms, and data labeling tools.

“Rather than delving into every aspect of the machine learning process and catering to developers and data scientists in large enterprises, we concentrate on the most crucial components, present them within a user-friendly interface, and simplify the rest,” he states. “This approach makes us ideal for non-developers in small and medium-sized businesses seeking to automate processes previously considered impossible in a simple manner. The individuals experiencing the automation challenge are empowered to become the problem-solvers, mirroring the impact Wix and Squarespace had on website creation.”

Gil Dibner, general partner and founder at Angular Ventures, states: “Levity is spearheading a significant transformation that will impact all knowledge workers. By enabling professionals to easily train AI engines, construct AI-powered automations, and integrate them into their daily routines, Levity is fundamentally broadening access to the advantages of AI.”

In addition to Angular, Levity’s investors include: System. One, Discovery Ventures (the founders of SumUp), Martin Henk (the founder of Pipedrive), and a number of other undisclosed angel investors.
