Levels is pleased to announce a substantial seed funding round designed to facilitate the commercial release of its innovative biowearable metabolic sensor. This groundbreaking platform combines continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) technology with a sophisticated software application, offering users comprehensive insights into their overall health status. The company’s leadership believes this integrated approach empowers individuals to connect the dots between their dietary choices, physical activity, and general well-being.

Levels delivers valuable health data by consistently tracking an individual’s blood glucose levels using established and reliable technology. Unlike typical wrist-worn devices, Levels utilizes medical-grade hardware applied to the upper arm for a period of two weeks. While this may sound intrusive, it is, in fact, a comfortable and painless experience. I am currently using one myself with no discomfort.

The $12 million seed round was spearheaded by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from a number of prominent investors. These include Marc Randolph, the co-founder and original CEO of Netflix, Dick Costolo, formerly the CEO of Twitter, Michael Arrington, founder of TechCrunch, and Matt Dellavedova, a professional NBA player with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Levels reports a waitlist of 45,000 interested individuals, and this new funding will enable the company to fulfill existing pre-orders and accommodate many more. The company anticipates that customers will be able to begin purchasing Levels products in early 2021.

“Levels functions as a catalyst for positive behavioral adjustments,” explained Josh Clemente, CEO and co-founder. “We are dedicated to achieving key product development milestones centered around this goal before a full market launch. This investment will allow us to expand our team and conduct the necessary research to pinpoint the most effective strategies, which we will then integrate into the product. We will proceed with a full launch once we have demonstrated a high level of effectiveness.”

The team behind Levels is deeply committed to their mission. During multiple conversations with TechCrunch, founders Josh Clemente and Dr. Casey Means detailed the company’s objectives.

“Enhancing metabolic function can lead to improvements in energy levels, stamina, memory, mood, and cognitive abilities. Seven of the ten most common causes of death in the United States are closely linked to metabolic issues,” stated Dr. Casey Means, co-founder of Levels. “Levels assists you in improving your metabolic health by identifying foods that have a negative impact on your glucose levels. With this knowledge, you can proactively manage your metabolic well-being and adopt healthier habits.”
