Allow Guest Access on Ubuntu: Use Computer Without Logging Off

Sharing Your Ubuntu Computer Without Interrupting Your Work

Have you ever been deeply engaged in multiple tasks on your computer when someone else needed temporary access? A common concern is that they might inadvertently close your browser session or ongoing applications.

Ubuntu offers a straightforward solution to this common issue, allowing for shared access without disrupting your current workflow.

Accessing the Power Menu

Initiate the process by clicking the Power Button located in the upper-right corner of your screen.

This action will display a familiar menu, presenting various system options.

Utilizing the Switch User Feature

Select the Switch User button from the presented options.

This enables another person to log in to the computer, perform their desired tasks, while your existing programs remain active and undisturbed.

Upon completion, the other user simply needs to log out.

You will then be seamlessly returned to your original desktop session, and you may be asked to re-enter your password for security.

Benefits of This Feature

This functionality is particularly useful for maintaining productivity and avoiding workflow interruptions.

Furthermore, it's possible to maintain multiple active sessions simultaneously by utilizing the Switch User button to alternate between different desktop accounts.
