Lerer Hippeau, a leading venture capital firm based in New York City, has initiated the process of raising capital for its ninth fund. This development was revealed through a recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Wednesday.
The SEC filing did not disclose the intended size of the fundraise.
Firm Overview and Investment History
Established in 2010, Lerer Hippeau currently manages assets exceeding $1.2 billion, as reported by PitchBook. The firm boasts a portfolio of over 400 companies.
Their investment strategy encompasses a diverse range of sectors. Notable portfolio companies include Allbirds (footwear), Warby Parker (eyewear), Pie (social media), On Me (gifting), Casper (mattresses), and Kaiyo (online furniture).
Recent Fund Closings
In the previous year, Lerer Hippeau successfully closed two separate funds. These included the $85.9 million Select Fund IV, designed to provide capital to companies in the Series A through C stages of development.
Additionally, the firm finalized Fund VIII, raising $143 million. This fund is specifically targeted towards investments in companies during their pre-seed and seed stages.
