Build Your VC Network at TechCrunch Disrupt

The Importance of Networking for Startup Success

Business relationships are fundamental, and a robust foundation necessitates developing a strong network of individuals who can offer guidance, support, and investment in your entrepreneurial aspirations.

However, navigating specific networks and identifying where to initiate these connections can present difficulties, particularly for those just beginning their journey.

Learn to Cultivate Essential Connections

If you find yourself facing this challenge, a crucial session awaits you. You’ll discover strategies and optimal locations to begin forging vital connections – encompassing angel investors and beyond – that are indispensable for any founder seeking company growth.

A dedicated community offering constructive feedback and facilitating introductions to potential funders, partners, or clients is always essential.

Meet the Experts at TechCrunch Disrupt

We are pleased to announce that three distinguished experts – Nik Milanović, Joshua Ogundu, and Gefen Skolnick – will lead you through this process at TechCrunch Disrupt, taking place October 18-20.

Expert Profiles

Nik Milanović, a fintech enthusiast, serves as the founder and editor-in-chief of This Week in Fintech, as well as a general partner at the Fintech Fund.

Previously, he held leadership positions at Google Pay, Petal, and Funding Circle, including Head of Business Development and VP of Strategy.

Joshua Ogundu is the co-founder and CEO of Campfire, an innovative photo-sharing application designed for storytelling and commentary.

Prior to Campfire, Ogundu contributed to TikTok’s global product operations team, focusing on Trust & Safety and TikTok For Good.

He also possesses experience in product management, spanning communication and media.

Ogundu’s entrepreneurial journey began with LykeMe, a startup launched during his senior year at Michigan State University, and he is an alumnus of The Marshall School of Business at USC.

Gefen Skolnick, the founder and CEO of Couplet Coffee, identifies as a first-generation immigrant, a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, and a devoted coffee aficionado.

She has a background in technology leadership, having co-directed the largest U.S. women’s hackathon and developed her own applications.

Skolnick also participated in numerous fellowship programs and served as a lead partner at a venture fund supported by the founders of Tesla, Reddit, and Twitch.

Remarkably, she established her own coffee brand and secured funding exclusively through Twitter, all before the age of 23.

Building Communities and Leveraging Networks

Through Twitter, Skolnick cultivated a thriving community for underrepresented founders, now boasting nearly 3,000 members.

Her advocacy for minority groups attracted the attention of 30 angel investors, including Jen Rubio, co-founder of Away.

Consider the insights these leaders offer to early-stage startups – their value is undeniable. Milanović’s dedication to fintech facilitated connections and a transition into investment.

Ogundu understands the power of authentic engagement in fostering relationships, while Skolnick’s commitment to marginalized communities significantly broadened her network.
