PC Data Safety with Create Synchronicity

The Importance of Regular Data Backups
Protecting your valuable data through consistent backups is crucial. Yet, many individuals find it challenging to consistently remember to manually initiate these backups. A user-friendly, automated backup solution effectively addresses this common issue.
Introducing Create Synchronicity
Create Synchronicity is a complimentary tool designed for both data backup and synchronization. It empowers users to automate or manually perform backups of their important files. The software supports a wide range of file types – documents, images, videos, music, and more – and can copy them to USB drives, external hard drives, or network-accessible storage.
Downloading and Installation
The application can be downloaded via the link provided at the end of this article. You have the option of downloading an installer or a .zip archive containing a portable version of the program, which doesn’t require installation.
We opted for the portable .zip file. To execute it, simply extract the contents of the archive and then double-click the executable (.exe) file. Alternatively, if you prefer a standard installation, download the installer and follow the on-screen prompts.

Upon launching the program, you will be prompted to select your preferred language from a drop-down menu. Click "Ok" to proceed.

The initial launch will also ask if you wish to check for updates automatically each time the program starts. You can choose "Yes" or "No" based on your preference.

Creating Backup Profiles
Before initiating a backup with Create Synchronicity, you must first establish at least one profile. Multiple profiles can be created to manage different file sets and backup schedules.
Click the "New profile" button to begin.

Select "New profile" and enter a descriptive name for your profile, then press Enter.

The profile settings window will appear. Utilize the "…" buttons within the Directories box to specify the source directory for backup and the destination directory for the copied files. You can also select desired subdirectories and choose a synchronization method.
Options are available to include or exclude specific files, as well as access advanced settings.

Performing and Scheduling Backups
Your newly created profile will be displayed in the Profiles section of the main Create Synchronicity window. To manually initiate a backup, select the profile and choose "Synchronize" from the context menu.

A dialog box will appear, illustrating the progress of each step in the backup process.

To automate backups, you can schedule them to run at a specific time in the background. Select the desired profile and choose "Scheduling" from the context menu.

The Scheduling dialog box will open. A warning indicates that Create Synchronicity will register itself as a startup program to enable scheduling. This occurs automatically when scheduling is activated.
Enable scheduling for the profile and configure the frequency of backups.
Note: When specifying a time, use a 24-hour clock format (e.g., 3:00 PM is entered as 15:00).
If your computer is not consistently powered on during scheduled backup times, consider enabling the "Catch up missed backups" option. This ensures that any postponed backups are attempted periodically, up to a maximum of two days overdue.

Once a profile is scheduled, a clock icon will appear next to it.

Hovering your mouse over the Create Synchronicity icon in the system tray will display information about the next scheduled backup and its execution time.

During a scheduled backup, a message will appear on the system tray icon indicating that the backup is in progress. Another message will notify you upon completion.

Closing the program window using the "X" button does not terminate its operation; it continues to run in the background to execute scheduled backups. To reopen the program, use any created shortcuts or the executable file.
