join us for a live q&a with sapphire’s jai das on tuesday at 2 pm est/11 am pst

Even with a holiday weekend approaching in the United States, TechCrunch will maintain its momentum. We will resume our coverage next week with another episode in the second season of Extra Crunch Live, our ongoing series of interviews featuring startup founders, venture capitalists, and prominent figures within the tech industry.

Participation in this series is exclusive to Extra Crunch subscribers; if you are not yet a member, you can register here.

Next week, I will be conducting a virtual interview with Jai Das, a highly respected managing director at Sapphire Ventures.

During his time at Sapphire, Das has been involved in investments in companies such as MuleSoft (acquired for $6.5 billion), Alteryx (currently a publicly traded company), Square (also publicly traded), and Sumo Logic (which is also public). Prior to joining Sapphire, he held positions in corporate venture capital at Intel Capital and Agilent Ventures. (Sapphire initially began as SAP’s corporate venture capital division, but it became independent in 2011, undergoing a rebranding and continuing to secure funding.)

You can find highlights from the previous Extra Crunch Live session with Byron Deeter of Bessemer here.

I anticipate a stimulating conversation with a great deal to discuss. I am still finalizing my list of questions, and to avoid providing the Sapphire public relations team with advance notice, let’s simply state that the role of corporate venture capital during the 2020 surge in investment is a compelling subject for both entrepreneurs and investors.

I also plan to inquire with Das about the present landscape for software companies, our current position regarding historical SaaS valuation multiples, the significance of technology companies built around APIs, potential areas for founders to establish the next generation of enterprise startups, and whether any emerging platforms could serve as a basis for future innovation.

As with all Extra Crunch Live events, I will incorporate questions submitted by the audience (so ensure your Extra Crunch membership is current) to complement my prepared notes.

This promises to be a valuable session. Join me next Tuesday for the broadcast.
