Introducing Windows Home Server
Windows Home Server represents Microsoft’s dedicated solution for home-based data storage. It’s engineered to centralize your photos, videos, and files, enabling seamless sharing across all computers within your household network.
Installation Process Overview
Initiating the installation of Windows Home Server (WHS) involves inserting the installation disc. A standard Windows loading sequence, complete with a progress bar, will then commence.
Upon completion of the file loading stage, the initial WHS setup screen will appear. Ensure the installation type remains set to 'new installation' before proceeding by clicking 'Next'.
Accepting the License Agreement & Product Key Entry
Acceptance of the Microsoft End User License Agreement (EULA) is required to continue. Confirm your agreement and then click 'Next'.
The next step necessitates entering your product key. Input the key accurately and then select 'Next' to advance.
Disk Selection and Installation Confirmation
You will be presented with a screen allowing you to designate the disk upon which WHS will be installed.
A warning screen will appear; acknowledge it by clicking 'Yes'.
Commencing the Installation
With the disk selected and the warning acknowledged, the installation process is ready to begin. The duration of the installation will vary depending on your system’s hardware specifications. Initiate the process by clicking 'Start'.
As the installation unfolds, you will encounter familiar Windows installation screens.
System Reboots and Installation Progress
Multiple system reboots are a normal part of the installation procedure. Expect these to occur automatically.
Informational messages highlighting the benefits of WHS may also be displayed during this phase.
Final Stages and Desktop Appearance
A screen displaying file copying progress, reminiscent of an XP installation, will appear.
The installation is nearing completion when your computer restarts and the initial Windows Home Server screen is visible.
Upon successful completion, you will be greeted with the new Windows Home Server desktop environment!
