Instagram & Spotify Integration: Share Songs to Stories

Instagram Now Enables Spotify Song Previews in Stories
Instagram revealed on Monday the implementation of a new feature allowing users to preview songs shared from Spotify within their Stories.
Previously, sharing a Spotify song to an Instagram Story would only display a link without any accompanying audio. Now, viewers can directly listen to a snippet of the song while still inside the Instagram application.
Enhanced Music Sharing Experience
This update represents a significant, albeit subtle, improvement to the music-sharing experience on the platform. It streamlines the process of both sharing and discovering new music.
The change follows a similar rollout for Instagram Notes a few weeks prior. Users are now able to stream songs directly from Spotify to their Notes, providing followers with immediate access to their musical tastes.
Strategic Positioning and Competition
These new features potentially establish Instagram as a central location for music discovery. This, in turn, could lead to increased user engagement and time spent within the app.
Expanding its music-related functionalities also allows Instagram to more effectively compete with TikTok, which currently holds a dominant position in the music space and significantly impacts global music charts.
New Fonts for Stories and Reels
In addition to the Spotify integration, Instagram announced the introduction of new fonts for both Stories and Reels, beginning this year.
Initially, a limited-edition font inspired by the handwriting of singer-songwriter Rosalía is being released.
Rosalía-Inspired Font Features
Users can unlock hidden, hand-drawn symbols created by Rosalía by typing specific character combinations, such as ” :-) “, ***, and “<3,” according to Instagram.
