Prixa Secures $3 Million in Funding to Expand Digital Healthcare Platform
Indonesian health-tech company Prixa has successfully completed a $3 million funding round. The investment was spearheaded by MDI Ventures and the Trans-Pacific Technology Fund (TPTF), with further participation from existing investors, notably Siloam Hospitals Group.
Funding Details and Platform Growth
This latest investment increases Prixa’s total funding to $4.5 million since its inception in 2019. According to co-founder and CEO James Roring M.D., the newly acquired capital will be utilized to broaden the reach of its platform and expand its user base.
Prixa operates on a B2B (business-to-business) model. It collaborates with healthcare payers, such as insurance companies and corporations. Currently, the platform serves approximately 10 million patients through these B2B partnerships.
Strategic Partnerships and Market Reach
The company presently maintains working relationships with four prominent insurance providers. Furthermore, six additional insurers are currently being onboarded in the near future. Prixa also collaborates with Indonesia’s leading third-party administrators.
These collaborations allow Prixa to extend its services to a larger number of policyholders, enhancing accessibility to digital healthcare solutions.
Comprehensive Digital Health Services
Prixa’s platform offers a suite of digital health services. These include a virtual health assistant for patient inquiries, telemedicine consultations, prescription medication delivery, and convenient on-demand laboratory testing.
Demand for these services surged during the COVID-19 pandemic, as more individuals sought remote consultations for routine healthcare needs.
Competitive Landscape and Differentiation
Indonesia’s telehealth market also includes companies like Halodoc and Alodokter (also backed by MDI). These competitors primarily connect patients directly with healthcare providers and insurance companies.
Prixa distinguishes itself by concentrating on cost management for healthcare payers and establishing itself as a digital primary care provider.
Cost Efficiency and Clinical Standardization
“By effectively managing patients’ conditions outside of specialized hospital settings and providing online care for chronic diseases, Prixa demonstrably lowers outpatient claim volumes and subsequent inpatient costs for healthcare payers,” explained Roring.
“Moreover, our continually expanding medical database, coupled with established clinical protocols, promotes cost-effectiveness and service enhancement through standardized treatment approaches delivered by our healthcare professionals.”
Investor Perspective
Aditia Henri Narendra, General Manager of Legal and Corporate Communication at MDI Ventures, stated in a press release that MDI co-led the funding round because Prixa has proven its capacity to assist insurance companies and hospitals in improving the accessibility and affordability of medical services through its AI-powered telemedicine platform.
