Sort iOS Notifications by App - A Simple Guide

Managing iOS Notification Display
Typically, iOS presents notifications based on the sequence in which they were received. While this default arrangement can be useful, individuals who receive a high volume of notifications may benefit from organizing them by the originating application. Furthermore, iOS allows for manual sorting of notifications, ensuring that alerts from preferred apps are prioritized.
Notification Control in iOS
iOS provides robust notification management features. Users have the ability to enable or disable notifications entirely. Control is also granted over which applications are permitted to send notifications. For each app, settings can be adjusted to determine whether notifications appear on the lock screen and within the notification center, whether audible alerts are played, and if badges displaying unread notification counts are shown on the app icon.
By default, the system displays notifications in a chronological order.
Grouping Notifications by Application
If you frequently receive alerts from specific applications and wish to prioritize them, grouping notifications by app, rather than by time received, can be advantageous. Begin by opening the Settings app on your iOS device.
Within the main Settings menu, select the "Notifications" option.
On the Notifications screen, activate the "Group By App" toggle.
Subsequently, notifications will be organized neatly by the application from which they originate.
A key benefit of this arrangement is the ease with which you can scan and clear all notifications from a particular app. Simply tap the "X" icon located to the right of the app's name.
Then, tap the "Clear" button to dismiss all notifications associated with that application.
Manually Sorting Notification Order
For users who receive a substantial number of notifications, adjusting the sort order can further enhance usability. Return to the Notifications page and select the "Sort Order" option.
On the Sort Order page, choose "Manual."
Utilize the handles to the right of each app to reposition it within the list. Notifications from prioritized applications will appear higher, allowing you to address important alerts first. This feature can be used independently or in conjunction with the "Group By App" setting.
These adjustments are straightforward to implement. Experiment with both chronological and app-grouped views to determine your preferred method. The manual sorting feature provides an additional layer of customization for optimal notification management.
