Share Nest Thermostat Access: A Simple Guide

Sharing Access to Your Nest Thermostat

If several individuals reside in your home, granting them all control of the Nest Thermostat via their smartphones is a straightforward process. This guide details how to share device access with additional users.

While you might choose to restrict access for children, sharing with a partner offers convenience. This allows either person to adjust the temperature remotely, while maintaining a locked unit to prevent unwanted changes by others.

The process of extending Nest Thermostat access to another person is remarkably simple. Even those without an existing Nest account can quickly create one and begin using the system.

Initiating Access Sharing

To begin, launch the Nest application on your device and select the settings gear icon located in the upper-right corner of the screen.

You will be presented with two choices: "From contacts" or "Enter email address".

However, their email address must be included in their contact information, as the app will dispatch an email invitation. Alternatively, selecting "Enter email address" allows you to manually input their name and email, then tap "Send invitation".

You will then return to the "Family" screen, where the new user will appear listed as "Invited".

At any time, you can tap on a user’s name and select "Remove access" to revoke their shared access to your Nest Thermostat.
