Send Emails from Different Addresses in Gmail - A Guide

Managing Multiple Email Addresses in Gmail

In today’s digital landscape, many individuals maintain several email addresses to categorize different aspects of their lives. However, constantly switching between these accounts can be inconvenient.

Fortunately, Gmail provides a streamlined solution, enabling users to send emails from multiple accounts without the need for frequent switching.

Setting Up Multiple Send Addresses

Begin by accessing your Gmail settings. Click the cog icon located beneath your profile picture, then select Settings from the displayed menu.

Navigate to the ‘Accounts and Import’ section within the settings panel.

Within the ‘Send mail as’ area, select the ‘Add another email address you own’ option. Enter the desired email address and proceed to the next step.

Gmail offers the flexibility to configure SMTP server details manually. Alternatively, it can simplify the process by handling the setup automatically.

Ensure the ‘Send through Gmail’ option is chosen before clicking ‘Next Step’.

Initiate the verification process by clicking the ‘Send Verification’ button. An email containing a verification link or code will be dispatched to the specified address.

Confirm your ownership by either clicking the link within the email or entering the provided verification code.

Sending Emails from Different Accounts

When composing a new email, click the down arrow adjacent to the ‘From’ field.

This will reveal a list of your configured email accounts, allowing you to select the appropriate sender for the current message.

By default, Gmail will utilize your primary Google email address. However, this default behavior can be modified.

Return to the ‘Accounts and Import’ section of Settings and click the ‘make default’ link next to the email address you wish to designate as the primary sender.

Receiving Emails from Other Accounts

Beyond sending, Gmail also allows you to consolidate incoming mail from other accounts.

You can configure Gmail to receive emails from additional addresses you own, centralizing your inbox.

With these features, Gmail can effectively function as a comprehensive email management tool, regardless of the number of email addresses you possess.
