Save Chrome Tabs for Later: A Simple Guide

Saving Chrome Tab Sessions with Bookmarks
Chrome offers the functionality to restore tabs from a previous browsing session upon startup. However, a native feature to save a current tab set for later reuse is absent.
While browser extensions like Session Buddy can accomplish this, a convenient alternative exists utilizing Chrome’s built-in bookmarking capabilities.
Enabling the Bookmarks Bar
First, ensure the bookmarks bar is visible. Access the Chrome menu, located on the right side of the address bar. Navigate to “Bookmarks” in the submenu.
Verify that “Show bookmarks bar” is checked; if not, select it to activate the bar.
Bookmarking All Tabs
To save your currently open tabs, right-click within the tab bar itself. From the context menu that appears, choose the option “Bookmark all tabs”.
This action will open the "Bookmark all tabs" dialog box.
Organizing Your Saved Sessions
To maintain an organized bookmarks bar, it’s recommended to create a dedicated folder for your saved tab sessions. Within the dialog box, click the "New folder" button.
A new folder will be created. Name it appropriately, such as the current date or a descriptive title reflecting the session’s content, and then click "Save".
The newly created folder will then house all the bookmarks representing your open tabs.
Accessing Saved Tab Sessions
The "Saved Sessions" folder (or your chosen name) will appear on the bookmarks bar. You can reposition it by clicking and dragging its name.
To reopen all tabs from a saved session, simply click on the folder on the bookmarks bar, then right-click on the specific dated folder.
Select “Open all bookmarks” from the resulting menu.
Opening Options
All bookmarks contained within the selected folder will open as individual tabs in your current browser window. Existing tabs remain unaffected.
Alternatively, you can choose to open the bookmarks in a new window or even within an incognito window.
Managing Saved Sessions
You can save multiple tab sessions within the same folder for future access. This allows for easy retrieval of frequently used sets of tabs.
To remove a saved session, right-click on the folder containing the bookmarks you wish to delete and select “Delete” from the context menu.
