Rename 'This PC' to 'My Computer' in Windows - Easy Guide

Renaming "This PC" in Windows
Over time, Microsoft has modified the label for the system's primary folder, transitioning from "My Computer" to "Computer" and subsequently to "This PC." Users who have a preference for a different designation – or even a completely custom name – can readily alter it.
The process is remarkably straightforward. Simply right-click on the folder and select the rename option. This functionality has been verified across Windows 7, 8, and 10, ensuring broad compatibility.
Limitations of the Renaming Process
While the change generally applies system-wide, certain locations, such as the Start Screen, may not immediately reflect the new name. A refresh of the desktop or reopening Windows Explorer can often resolve this.
The updated name will be visible throughout most of the operating system. However, complete propagation may require a brief refresh of the display.
Should you utilize a desktop shortcut to access the folder, its label will also be updated to reflect the new name.
A Simple Customization
This is a particularly uncomplicated procedure, potentially unnecessary for many users. However, it proves valuable for those unaware of the feature or, as in our experience, those who had simply forgotten it.
A helpful reminder from a forum member, Tom, prompted us to revisit and share this simple customization option.
