A smart doorbell offers a valuable feature for situations like a sleeping baby or late-night quiet. It allows you to temporarily silence the audible chime.
Muting the Indoor Chime
Begin by launching the SkyBell application on your smartphone.
Tap the settings gear icon, located in the upper-right corner of the screen.
From the settings menu, select "Indoor Chime".
Deactivate the toggle switch positioned to the right of "Indoor Chime". Then, confirm your selection by pressing "Save" in the top-right corner.
This action will silence the doorbell chime each time the doorbell button is activated. However, you will continue to receive notifications on your mobile device.
Managing Notifications
To further suppress alerts, including notifications, return to the main settings screen and choose "Notifications".
Within the Notifications settings, disable the toggle switches next to both "Button Pressed" and "Motion Detected" to mute all alerts. Alternatively, you can selectively enable one or the other.
Following these steps, pressing the doorbell will no longer trigger a notification or audible chime.
Limitations and Alternatives
Currently, the SkyBell HD does not support scheduled muting. Therefore, enabling or disabling the chime requires manual adjustments within the SkyBell app.
Integration with Amazon Echo provides a degree of convenience. You can use voice commands to instruct Alexa to toggle the indoor chime on or off. However, notification control through the Echo is not available.
While this feature offers a simple solution for temporary silence, remember that you'll need to manually adjust the settings each time you wish to enable or disable the chime and notifications.
