Enable One-Handed Mode on Google Keyboard - Android

Addressing One-Handed Typing on Android
Many users encounter situations where utilizing both hands for text input is impractical. The increasing screen dimensions of modern Android devices exacerbate this challenge. Fortunately, Google Keyboard now incorporates a solution: One-Handed Mode.
How One-Handed Mode Functions
This feature effectively reduces the standard keyboard size and positions it to either the left or right side of the screen. This adjustment significantly simplifies typing with a single hand. More specifically, it facilitates use with just the thumb.
Accessing One-Handed Mode: Requirements and Installation
To begin, ensure you have version 5.0 of the Google Keyboard installed. Updates from the Play Store are often distributed incrementally, so you may already possess the necessary version.
If the update hasn't yet arrived, you can obtain it directly from APK Mirror, a reputable source for free Play Store applications. It’s important to select the correct version – either 32-bit or 64-bit – based on your device’s specifications.
Activating the Feature
Once the keyboard is installed, a long press on the comma key is required. Subsequently, slide your thumb towards the left icon, depicted as a hand over a square. This action initiates the keyboard resizing process.
It's worth noting a variation: when utilizing Chrome’s Omnibar for text input, a backslash symbol will appear instead of a comma.
Using and Adjusting One-Handed Mode
The keyboard will now be smaller and aligned to one side. To toggle between left and right alignment, simply tap the arrow icon. To revert to the full-size keyboard, select the maximize icon.
The process is designed to be straightforward and intuitive.
