Create Instant Messaging Hyperlinks - A How-To Guide

Facilitating Client Communication with Instant Messaging Hyperlinks
As a freelancer, my business depends on attracting clients through online channels. To streamline the process, I aim to make contacting me as simple as possible. Incorporating hyperlinks directly to my chat identifiers is one effective method.
These hyperlinks function as clickable links that immediately launch the appropriate chat window, with my unique chat ID pre-populated. This eliminates the need for manual entry.
The advantages are clear: reduced effort for the client and fewer inquiries regarding my chat IDs. Clients can simply click the link and start an instant message conversation.
A practical example can be found on the contact page of one of my websites, where you can test these links firsthand. [No Longer Available]
Available Chat Hyperlinks
Below are the chat hyperlinks I currently utilize. Simply replace USERNAME with your own identifier and copy the entire bold line to integrate it into your website, forum, or chat signature. Clicking the link will then initiate a direct message to you. Feel free to customize the "send me a message" text as desired.
- Windows Live Messenger: Send me a message (use your Hotmail address as the username)
- Yahoo Messenger: Send me a message
- AIM: Send me a message
- Google Talk: Send me a message (use your Gmail address as the username)
- Skype: Send me a message
Currently, a hyperlink for ICQ remains elusive. Contributions from the community to provide this link would be greatly appreciated.
Are there other chat program hyperlinks that I haven't included? Please share your knowledge in the comments section below.
