Apple Watch Custom Replies: Text & Email Setup

Customizing Quick Replies on Your Apple Watch
Frequently sending the same responses to text messages is a common experience. Apple Watch offers built-in, pre-defined responses for both texts and emails, enabling swift replies directly from your wrist.
A selection of standard phrases, such as “Yes”, “No”, and “I’m on my way”, are readily available on your Apple Watch. However, the system allows for personalization; you can modify these default replies to include phrases you use more often.
Modifying Default Replies: A Step-by-Step Guide
It’s important to note that customization of default replies isn’t possible directly on the watch itself. You must utilize your iPhone to make these changes.
Begin by tapping the “Watch” icon located on your iPhone’s Home screen.
Ensure that you are on the “My Watch” screen. If not, simply tap the “My Watch” icon situated at the bottom of the screen.
Within the “My Watch” screen, select “Messages”.
Scroll down the “Messages” screen until you locate and tap “Default Replies”.
The list of currently configured “Default Replies” will then be displayed. To alter a specific reply, tap on it.
A text input cursor will appear, allowing you to edit the reply.
Type in the desired reply text. To save your changes and return to the previous screen, tap the back arrow at the top of the screen. Alternatively, pressing the Home button will also return you to the Home screen.
Customizing Mail Replies
The default replies can also be tailored for use with the Mail application. From the “My Watch” screen, tap on “Mail”.
On the “Mail” screen, select “Default Replies”.
You can now edit the default replies for email, mirroring the process used for customizing text message replies.
Important Note: These default replies are also accessible when initiating new text messages via Force Touch on your Apple Watch.
Furthermore, default text responses can be configured for situations where you are unable to answer incoming phone calls, and these too are customizable.
Additional Information
- Accessibility: Customizing replies streamlines communication when a full response isn't immediately possible.
- Efficiency: Pre-set responses save time and effort in frequently asked scenarios.
- Personalization: Tailoring replies to your common phrases enhances the user experience.
