Change Voice Volume in Apple Maps - A Simple Guide

Adjusting Siri's Voice Volume in Apple Maps
Many users of Apple Maps have experienced the sometimes startling interruption of Siri’s voice prompts while enjoying music. This can be disruptive, however, a straightforward solution is readily available.
Apple Maps provides a dedicated setting to control the loudness of Siri’s navigational guidance. This allows users to maintain their preferred music volume without being unexpectedly startled by excessively loud prompts, or straining to hear prompts that are too quiet.
Adjusting Volume Through iPhone Settings
There are two distinct pathways to modify this setting: via the iPhone’s main Settings application, or directly within the Maps app itself.
To begin, open the Settings app and scroll down to locate the “Maps” option.
Tap to open the “Driving & Navigation” menu.
Within the “Driving & Navigation” screen, find and select “Navigation Voice Volume”. You will then be presented with options to choose between low, medium, and high volume levels, or to disable the voice guidance entirely.
Adjusting Volume Directly in Apple Maps
Alternatively, the voice volume can be adjusted while actively navigating.
First, ensure a route has been initiated by tapping the green “GO” button.
Once the route is in progress, swipe upwards from the bottom edge of the app window to reveal the menu, and then select “Audio”.
This action will display the same volume options previously found within the Maps settings screen.
Changes made to the voice volume through the Maps app are applied system-wide. Consequently, the selected volume will persist for subsequent routes until altered again, if desired.
Additional Audio Controls
Users also have the capability to pause spoken audio, including podcasts and audiobooks, during navigation. This feature proves particularly useful during extended journeys where Siri’s prompts might otherwise interrupt ongoing audio content.
