Personalizing Your Conversations in Google Messenger

Android’s strength lies in its extensive customization options, and Google’s Messenger app is a prime example of this flexibility. Each individual conversation within Messenger is assigned a distinct color. Users have the ability to modify the color associated with any specific conversation directly from within the app’s menu.

Changing a Conversation's Color: A Step-by-Step Guide

Begin by opening the conversation you wish to personalize. It’s important to understand that color settings are not global; they apply to each contact and conversation independently.

Once inside the desired conversation, locate and tap the three-dot overflow menu situated in the upper right corner of the screen. From the resulting menu, select “People & options.”

Within the “People & options” section, you’ll encounter several choices. Scroll down to the bottom of the list where the person’s name and contact details are displayed.

To the right of the contact information, you will notice a small color palette icon. Selecting this icon initiates the color selection process.

Tapping the palette reveals a range of pre-defined colors and shades. While a custom color selection option (such as using a hex code) isn’t currently available, the provided selection offers ample variety.

The color change is applied immediately upon selection, updating the appearance of the conversation even within the “People & options” menu. This provides instant visual feedback.

That completes the process! You can repeat these steps for each of your contacts, tailoring the visual experience to your preferences. However, it’s worth noting that these color settings are not synchronized across different devices.
