LG G5 App Drawer: How to Add It to Your Home Screen

Restoring the App Drawer on the LG G5
LG implemented a unique design choice with the G5, notably removing the traditional app drawer from its default launcher. Instead, all applications were placed directly onto the home screens, mirroring the approach found in iOS. While some users may appreciate this arrangement, it can be disruptive for those accustomed to a conventional app drawer layout.
Re-enabling the App Drawer
Fortunately, LG provided a solution for users who wish to revert to a more familiar experience. An app drawer can be added to the stock launcher through a downloadable add-on.
First, navigate to the device’s Settings menu. This is achieved by pulling down the notification shade and selecting the cogwheel icon.
Within Settings, scroll down and select the “Home screen” option.
Tap the “Select Home” option, which is the first entry in this menu.
A list of installed launchers will be displayed. At the bottom of this list, you’ll find “Home & app drawer”. Unlike the other options, it features a download icon rather than a selectable button.
Selecting this option will initiate the installation of the “Home & app drawer” add-on. The download and installation process will occur automatically, requiring no further user input.
Return to the “Select Home” menu. The “Home & app drawer” option will now be selectable. Tap it to activate the new launcher.
Switching Between Layouts
Upon selection, the new home app will be launched, presenting a home screen that closely resembles the original, but now includes a functional app drawer. To revert to the original all-apps-on-screen layout, simply return to the “Home Screen” menu and choose “Home”.
