Easyship Joins Shopify Plus Tech Partner Program - Global Shipping Simplified

Easyship, a logistics company enabling online retailers to integrate a variety of shipping carriers into their online stores, has been accepted into the Shopify Plus Technology Partner Program. The company maintains offices in both Hong Kong and New York. Tommaso Tamburnotti, a co-founder, shared with TechCrunch that Easyship currently stands as the sole Shopify Plus shipping application originating from Asia, catering to the needs of large-scale businesses and those with substantial shipping volumes.
Established in 2015 by Tamburnotti and Augustin Ceyrac, both with prior experience at the prominent Southeast Asian e-commerce platform Lazada, alongside former banking professional Paul Lugagne Delpon, Easyship’s system offers access to over 250 shipping choices from providers like UPS, FedEx, and DHL. It also provides pre-arranged lower shipping costs and streamlines processes such as calculating taxes and import duties. To date, Easyship reports having assisted over 100,000 customers.
A recent study by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) indicates a rise in the number of internationally shipped packages during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly for items including electrical equipment, medicines, machinery, and related components. Simultaneously, international sellers have encountered new difficulties due to customs regulations, travel limitations, and reduced air travel capacity.
Tamburnotti explained to TechCrunch that COVID-19 “presented a significant disruption to the logistics sector,” initially triggered by factory closures in China, which caused disruptions for numerous e-commerce businesses.
Following the resumption of operations at Chinese factories, Tamburnotti noted a substantial increase in production and approximately an 80% rise in global e-commerce orders. However, the decrease in commercial flights – which commonly transport smaller packages – led to extended delivery times and increased shipping charges.
Beyond its primary locations in Hong Kong and New York, Easyship also operates offices in Singapore, London, and Australia. Tamburnotti emphasized that “our global presence allows us to deliver shipping solutions to our customers who need to serve a worldwide customer base.”
