Brinc Raises $30M Series B for Hong Kong Accelerator

Brinc's Expanding Accelerator Network
During recent visits to Hong Kong, I’ve consistently been struck by the diversity of startups supported by Brinc. Initially, the organization gained recognition primarily for its work with consumer hardware companies, a key area of concentration since its establishment in 2014.
Diversification and New Focus Areas
Over the years, Brinc has significantly broadened its operational scope. It now places substantial emphasis on sectors such as food technology, healthcare, and deep tech. Future plans indicate a continued expansion into emerging fields like web3 and NFTs.
Animoca Brands, headquartered in Hong Kong, is demonstrably playing a pivotal role in this strategic shift. The two companies collaborated last year to introduce Launchpad Luna, an accelerator specifically designed for blockchain and NFT ventures.
Series B Funding and Global Expansion
Animoca is spearheading a $30 million Series B funding round for Brinc. This investment will facilitate the expansion of Brinc’s program offerings, the establishment of new offices, and the recruitment of additional personnel.
According to Brinc co-founder Bay McLaughlin, several Asian markets are being considered for potential expansion. These include Japan, Korea, Singapore, and India, alongside a strengthened presence within China.
Furthermore, Brinc is set to inaugurate an office in Brazil this November, marking its first venture into Latin America. Currently, Brinc maintains a network of seven offices, with operations spanning a total of 12 locations globally.
Strategic Investment from Animoca
Beyond the Series B round, Animoca will directly invest $100 million into startups facilitated through Brinc, functioning in a similar capacity to a venture capital fund.
Vision for the Future
“Brinc stands as a leading force in startup acceleration within emerging markets and cutting-edge technologies, with a clear vision for the future and a commitment to sustainability,” stated Yat Siu, Chairman and Founder of Animoca, in a press release.
He further added, “We share a unified perspective on an open future driven by blockchain integration across both established and growing industries, and we anticipate the innovative solutions that will arise from their acceleration programs.”
