The system assesses the level of detail and authenticity in your answers, offering guidance for improvement. It leverages the capabilities of OpenAI’s GPT-4o mini to provide this analysis.

How Prompt Feedback Works

Instead of dictating specific content, the AI provides tiered feedback. Responses are categorized as “Go a Little Deeper,” “Try a Small Change,” or “Great Answer.”

A “Great Answer” designation indicates that no modification is needed. The other levels offer targeted suggestions, such as incorporating specific preferences to enhance personality expression.

Addressing Common Profile Issues

Prompt Feedback directly tackles a prevalent problem within dating apps: the overuse of generic, uninspired responses. Many profiles contain predictable answers that fail to stand out.

For instance, the response “The best way to ask me out is: asking me out” is a common example of a lackluster answer. A recent user survey revealed that 63% of daters experience difficulty crafting compelling profile content.

Context of the Launch

This new feature arrives at a time when many users are experiencing fatigue with online dating. Issues like endless swiping, stalled conversations, and ghosting are contributing to this burnout.

While Hinge aims to enhance the user experience through AI integration, some individuals may express reservations about AI’s role in potential connections.

Match Group’s Investment in AI

Match Group, Hinge’s parent company, is dedicating approximately $20 million to $30 million to AI development. A recent initiative includes an AI-powered photo selector for Tinder.

This tool assists users in choosing profile pictures predicted to perform well. The company established a partnership with OpenAI last year to further these efforts.
