Heatworks Tetra Dishwasher: Pre-orders Now Open

Heatworks has initiated pre-orders for the Tetra, a compact countertop dishwasher initially showcased at CES 2018. This appliance distinguishes itself by eliminating the need for conventional plumbing connections.

No Plumbing Required

The Tetra only requires access to a standard electrical outlet for operation. It features an integrated three-liter water tank that is manually filled before each wash cycle. After the cycle concludes – with options taking under an hour – the greywater is easily drained from a separate tank.

Capacity and Efficiency

This dishwasher is capable of cleaning and drying dishes from three place settings in a single load. While it occupies valuable counter space, Heatworks asserts that the Tetra actually uses less water overall compared to traditional handwashing methods.

Versatile Wash Settings

The Tetra offers a variety of wash settings to accommodate different cleaning needs. A dedicated “fruit” setting is included for washing fresh produce.

Sustainable Detergent System

To minimize environmental impact, the dishwasher utilizes recyclable cartridges containing concentrated detergent. This approach aims to reduce plastic waste associated with conventional detergents.

Ohmic Array Technology

Heatworks claims the Tetra consumes less power than standard dishwashers. It employs Ohmic Array Technology to heat water, a method described as similar to microwave heating.

How Ohmic Array Technology Works

Instead of traditional metal heating elements, the Tetra uses graphite electrodes and sophisticated electronic controls. These components excite the natural minerals present in the water. This process enables efficient water heating and precise temperature regulation.

Comparison to Competitors

Although other countertop dishwashers exist that don’t require plumbing, the Tetra boasts a smaller water tank capacity than many alternatives. For example, the Farberware FDW05ASBWHA model features a five-liter tank and is currently priced at $340.

Pricing and Availability

The Tetra is priced at $499, however, a $100 discount is currently available for pre-orders. Detergent cartridges are estimated to cost $6 each, providing approximately 20 loads depending on the selected settings.

Heatworks anticipates beginning shipments of the Tetra on May 18th, 2022 – coinciding with No Dirty Dishes Day.
