hear from arlan hamilton on finding the next big opportunities in tech at tc sessions: justice

We are thrilled to share that Arlan Hamilton, the founder and managing partner of Backstage Capital, will participate in a fireside discussion at TC Sessions: Justice on March 3rd.
Backstage Capital has successfully secured over $12 million in funding to support more than 150 businesses spearheaded by founders from diverse backgrounds – people of color, women, and/or members of the LGBTQ+ community. These companies include Spora Health, Bitwise, Career Karma, Uncharted Power, Kairos and Zero Grocery. The investment firm operates on the principle that these founders embody the most promising investment prospects.
In a survey conducted by Extra Crunch last June, Hamilton expressed, “My interests lie in ventures that encourage sustainability and demonstrate ingenuity.” She further noted a particular interest in the senior care sector, specifically its potential for growth through active senior lifestyles and entrepreneurial endeavors, as well as the media landscape. Hamilton believes the media industry is currently experiencing a significant and compelling evolution due to the increasing importance of representation.
Backstage Capital has expanded its efforts by establishing accelerator programs in four different cities, designed to bolster underrepresented founders. Additionally, they created Backstage Crowd, a syndicate that raised $1 million within its first three months after being relaunched in 2020, as detailed in the firm’s impact report.
Hamilton is also the author of “It’s About Damn Time,” a book offering practical guidance for both founders and those looking to become investors.
During TC Sessions: Justice, we intend to discuss with Hamilton the current landscape of venture capital, the importance of investing in founders who are often overlooked or under-resourced, and related topics.
