Grammarly Expands Language Support - 5 New Languages Added

Grammarly Expands Language Support
Initially known for its English spelling, grammar, and writing assistance capabilities, Grammarly is broadening its services. The platform now extends support to include five additional languages: Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, and Italian.
New Features for Multiple Languages
Grammarly now provides suggestions for paragraph-level revisions concerning tone, style, and overall readability in these newly supported languages. Users composing content in any of these five languages, alongside English, can also utilize an in-line translation feature encompassing 19 different languages.
This multilingual writing functionality is accessible to both free and premium Grammarly subscribers.
Addressing User Demand
According to Ailian Gan, Director of Product Management at Grammarly, the expansion is a direct response to customer requests. The company aims to meet users’ needs across the 500,000 applications and websites where Grammarly is currently integrated, as well as within their preferred languages for daily communication.
Growth and User Engagement
Grammarly reported 40 million daily active users in May. This latest update is anticipated to further increase user engagement and overall platform adoption.
Pilot Program Results
The multilingual tools underwent a pilot program involving 1 million users. Grammarly reported positive outcomes from this testing phase, though specific usage statistics were not disclosed.
Recent Developments and Future Plans
Grammarly has recently been actively releasing new features. Last month saw the introduction of enhanced AI capabilities and a revamped document user experience, leveraging technology from Coda, a productivity startup acquired the previous year.
The company intends to integrate multilingual support into its AI-powered features in the future.
