Google Shopping's AI Fashion Tool: Find Similar Clothing

Google Enhances Shopping with New AI-Powered Features
Google recently unveiled a novel AI image feature for its Shopping tab. This new functionality is intended to streamline the process of finding clothing items for users who have a specific vision in mind.
The core of this update lies in allowing shoppers to utilize descriptive language when searching, rather than relying solely on keywords.
Introducing "Vision Match"
Dubbed “Vision Match,” this feature is currently accessible on mobile devices within the U.S. It empowers users to articulate the garment they are picturing.
Based on this description, the AI generates relevant suggestions and presents the closest available products for purchase.
To access Vision Match, users can either type their idea into the search bar and locate the “Can’t find it? Create it” prompt, or navigate to the Shopping tab’s left panel and select “Create & Shop.”
This capability was initially released as an experimental feature within Google’s Labs program in 2023.
Expanded AR Beauty and Virtual Try-On Tools
Alongside Vision Match, Google is also broadening the scope of its augmented reality (AR) beauty tools.
Users in the U.S. can now virtually try on multiple makeup products simultaneously.
This includes items such as lipsticks, mascaras, eyeshadows, and eyeliners, available from brands like E.L.F., Fenty, and Glossier.
To utilize the AR beauty feature, users can search for popular makeup styles, like “soft glam,” then select “See the looks on you” and “Try it on.”
Enhanced Virtual Try-On for Apparel
Google is also refining its virtual try-on experience for clothing.
Introduced in 2023, this feature allows shoppers to visualize garments on diverse models.
The update now extends to pants and skirts from hundreds of brands, displayed on models ranging in size from XXS to XXL.
Continuous Integration of Generative AI
Since the integration of generative AI into Search in 2023, Google has consistently improved its Shopping tab with these technologies.
Previously, an AI-powered summary was added to search results pages, offering key product information.
For example, when searching for a winter jacket, Google provides helpful tips to consider before making a purchase.
