Google's AI Virtual Try-On: Try Clothes Online

Google Introduces AI-Powered Virtual Try-On and Enhanced Shopping Features

On Thursday, Google unveiled a novel AI feature enabling users to virtually try on clothing items. This advancement is accompanied by the rollout of refined price alerts and a preview of an upcoming capability.

Virtual Try-On Feature Details

The official release of the virtual try-on functionality follows a two-month testing period. Users can now upload a personal photograph to digitally preview how apparel will appear on their body.

Currently launching within the United States, this feature extends to Google’s Shopping Graph, encompassing Search, Google Shopping, and image results.

To utilize the feature, simply select the “try it on” icon within a product listing or apparel result. A full-length photograph of the user is then required. The system will subsequently display a visualization of the clothing worn on the user’s image.

Saved looks can be easily stored and shared with contacts.

Investment in Virtual Shopping Experiences

This launch underscores Google’s ongoing investment in the virtual try-on sector. Last month saw the introduction of Doppl, an experimental application leveraging AI to simulate outfit appearances.

A Google representative clarified to TechCrunch that both the new try-on feature and Doppl are powered by the same generative AI technology. However, Doppl is designed to provide a more immersive experience, allowing users to refine their personal style.

Furthermore, Doppl generates AI-created videos, offering a more realistic depiction of how an outfit would appear in motion.

Enhanced Price Alerts

New price alerts now allow users to define their desired spending limit for specific items. Shoppers in the United States can now establish alerts, specifying preferred size, color, and target price.

“This eliminates the need for constant price checking or remembering to revisit desired products.”

Future Outfit and Room Design Inspiration

An upcoming feature focused on outfit and room design inspiration is slated for release this fall. Users will be able to explore style ideas, such as finding inspiration for a green, flowing dress suitable for a garden party, or generating bedroom design concepts.

Google’s vision match technology will produce a variety of visual options based on user queries. The system will utilize the 50 billion products within the Shopping Graph to present visually similar product listings.
