google’s gemini can now help you schedule google calendar meetings

Google Introduces AI-Powered Meeting Scheduling in Gmail
Google is introducing a novel tool leveraging AI to streamline meeting arrangements for Gmail users integrated with Google Calendar. Launched on Tuesday, the new “Help me schedule” feature, powered by Gemini, identifies optimal meeting times based on calendar availability.
These suggested times are then presented directly to the email recipient, simplifying the process of setting up appointments.
Feature Specifics
The company clarifies that this functionality is currently optimized for one-on-one meetings. It is not designed to accommodate scheduling sessions involving multiple contacts or larger group gatherings.
This release is part of a broader wave of Google Workspace updates focused on integrating AI more comprehensively into everyday applications.
Recent Google Workspace AI Integrations
- Introduction of Google’s latest image editing model, Nano Banana.
- Implementation of Gemini features within Google Slides.
- Tools for sharing customized AI assistants, known as Gems, with team members.
- New formats introduced in NotebookLM.
- Enhancements to AI-driven video tools in Google Vids.
To utilize the meeting scheduling capability, users will select the “Help me schedule” button located beneath the email composition window in Gmail. This action will display a selection of available time slots.
Users have the option to modify or remove suggested times before inserting them into their email and sending it to the intended recipient. Upon the recipient’s selection, a calendar invitation is automatically generated and added to both parties’ calendars.
Competitive Landscape and Gemini's Advantage
While numerous meeting assistants and automated scheduling tools, such as those offered by Calendly, Doodle, Zoom, and HubSpot, are already available, Google emphasizes that its tool utilizes Gemini’s AI to analyze the email’s context when generating meeting suggestions.
For example, if an email requests a 30-minute slot, the assistant will only propose half-hour openings within the following week that align with the user’s schedule.
Google previously provided an appointment scheduling feature within Google Calendar; however, it lacked integration with Gmail and did not incorporate AI capabilities.
Additional Updates to Google Workspace
In a separate announcement on Tuesday, Google revealed that Google Keep reminders will now be automatically synchronized with Google Tasks.
