Gemini AI on TV: Google's AI Coming to Your Living Room

Gemini AI Expands to Google TV
Google’s advanced AI assistant, Gemini, is set to become integrated with television experiences. The company revealed on Monday the introduction of Gemini for Google TV, enabling users to have dynamic, conversational interactions with the AI using natural language.
Reaching a Vast Audience
Upon complete deployment, this extension of Gemini to a new platform will make Google’s AI accessible on over 300 million active devices running Google TV and other operating systems based on Android TV.
Enhanced TV-Related Assistance
Regarding television-specific inquiries, Google proposes that its Gemini AI can assist individuals with differing preferences in selecting content they will both enjoy.
It can also provide summaries of previous seasons of favored shows, ensuring viewers are up-to-date. Furthermore, Gemini can help locate a movie or program even when the title is forgotten, or offer access to reviews to aid in viewing decisions.
Beyond Entertainment
As Gemini is a versatile AI, users can pose questions on a wide range of topics, mirroring the functionality available through the AI chatbot on smartphones.
Diverse Applications
For example, students and parents can utilize the AI for homework assistance or to generate ideas for school projects. Families can leverage Gemini to plan upcoming vacations, and individuals can employ it to acquire new skills.
Continued Google Assistant Support
Google emphasizes that the integration of Gemini will not replace existing functionalities offered through the traditional Google Assistant integration. Commands previously supported by the Google Assistant will continue to function as expected.
Initial Rollout and Future Availability
The initial deployment of Gemini to Google TV commences today with the TCL QM9K series.
Later this year, Gemini will become available on the Google TV Streamer, Walmart onn 4K Pro, and select Hisense (U7, U8, and UX models) and TCL (QM7K, QM8K, and X11K models) devices from 2025. Additional features and capabilities will be implemented over time.
