Google Daily Listen AI: Personalized Podcasts from Your Discover Feed

Google's New "Daily Listen" Feature: AI-Powered Personalized Podcasts
Google is currently evaluating a novel “Daily Listen” functionality. This system automatically creates a podcast tailored to the content within your Discover feed.
The company has verified to TechCrunch that Daily Listen represents a customized, AI-driven audio experience. Its primary function is to keep users informed about subjects they find engaging.
Availability and Access
The rollout of this feature is presently underway within the Google app on both Android and iOS platforms.
Access will initially be granted to users in the U.S. who have enrolled in Google’s Search Labs experiment.
How Daily Listen Works
Daily Listen delivers a podcast episode, with a duration of up to five minutes. This episode provides a concise summary of stories and topics aligned with your interests.
The podcast also incorporates links to relevant articles. These links allow users to explore topics in greater detail.
The personalization of Daily Listen is deeply connected to Discover. The topics you regularly follow within Search and Discover within the Google app contribute to a more relevant audio experience, according to Google.
Similarities to NotebookLM
Google highlights a connection between Daily Listen and the NotebookLM’s Audio Overviews feature.
NotebookLM generates podcasts utilizing AI virtual hosts, based on information provided to the application, such as academic materials or legal documents.
However, Daily Listen focuses on delivering a rapid overview of current events based on your individual preferences.
Accessing the Feature
If you have access, a new “Daily Listen” section will appear on your home screen when launching the Google app.
This card will feature a play button indicating the podcast’s length, initiating the audio experience.
Podcast Experience and Features
Upon activating the feature, you can listen to the podcast while simultaneously viewing a scrolling written transcript.
Scrolling down reveals “related stories,” offering more in-depth information on the topics that interest you.
