Google Circle to Search Now Translates in Real-Time

Google Enhances Circle to Search with Continuous Translation
Google is implementing enhanced translation capabilities within Circle to Search. This feature empowers users to rapidly locate information displayed on their screen through intuitive gestures, such as circling, highlighting, scribbling, or tapping.
The company revealed on Thursday that translations are now displayed dynamically as the user scrolls through content. This eliminates the need for repeated translation requests.
The Benefit of Real-Time Translation
“Translation represents a frequently utilized function within Circle to Search. It provides greater understanding of social media content from international creators, or facilitates menu browsing during travel,” Google explained in a recent blog post.
Previously, users were required to re-initiate the translation process each time they scrolled or when the screen's content altered. This is no longer the case.
How Continuous Translation Works
Users can now experience uninterrupted translation while scrolling down a page or even transitioning between applications.
For instance, while browsing Instagram, if a post contains images with text in an unfamiliar language, the new feature will provide continuous translations as the user swipes through the photos.
Accessing the New Feature
To utilize this new functionality, users should initiate Circle to Search by long-pressing the home button or navigation bar.
Then, select the “Translate” icon and activate the “scroll and translate” option.
Rollout Details
Google states that this update will commence its rollout this week on Android devices. Initial availability will be focused on select Samsung Galaxy devices.
Ongoing Development of Circle to Search
Since its introduction last year, Google has consistently updated Circle to Search with expanded features and improved functionality.
At Samsung Unpacked 2024, Google announced updates designed to streamline information discovery and task completion. These included enhanced AI Overviews for visual searches and simplified one-tap actions for contact details and web addresses.
Integration with AI Mode
Several months ago, the technology company enabled the use of AI Mode within Circle to Search. This allows users to explore complex subjects and pose follow-up questions during their searches.
