Google AI Mode Expands Globally with New Features

Google Expands AI Mode Globally and Introduces Advanced Features
Google has announced a significant global rollout of its AI Mode, a functionality enabling users to pose intricate questions and pursue related inquiries directly within the Search interface. This expansion was revealed on Thursday by the technology leader.
Expanded Availability
The company is extending AI Mode’s reach to 180 additional countries, initially supporting the English language. Previously, access was limited to users in the United States, the United Kingdom, and India. Further language and regional support are planned for the near future.
New Agentic Capabilities
Enhancements to AI Mode include new agentic features designed to streamline tasks. Users can now leverage the tool to locate and book restaurant reservations.
Future updates will incorporate the ability to schedule local service appointments and procure event tickets. Requests for dinner reservations can be highly specific, factoring in details like party size, desired date and time, location preferences, and cuisine type.
AI Mode will then actively search across various reservation platforms to identify real-time availability at restaurants matching the specified criteria. A curated selection of suitable options will subsequently be presented to the user.
Access for Google AI Ultra Subscribers
This new functionality is currently being deployed to Google AI Ultra subscribers within the U.S. through an experimental feature called “Agentic capabilities in AI Mode” within Google Labs. Google Ultra is the company’s premium subscription tier, priced at $249.99 per month.
Personalized Search Results
U.S. users participating in the AI Mode experiment will also experience search results tailored to their individual preferences and interests. This personalization is initially focused on dining-related searches.
For instance, a query like “I only have an hour, need a quick lunch spot, any suggestions?” will prompt AI Mode to consider the user’s prior interactions, including past conversations, previously searched locations in Search and Maps, and clicked-on establishments.
If AI Mode determines a preference for Italian cuisine and outdoor seating, the results will prioritize restaurants offering those amenities.
User Control Over Personalization
Google emphasizes that users retain control over their personalization settings, which can be adjusted within their Google Account.
Collaboration Features
AI Mode now facilitates sharing and collaboration. A new “Share” button allows users to forward an AI Mode response to others, enabling them to seamlessly join the conversation.
This feature is particularly useful for collaborative planning scenarios, such as organizing trips or birthday celebrations.
