Google Photos AI Editing: Talk or Text to Edit Photos on Android

AI-Powered Photo Editing Now Available on Android
Google has announced that Android users can now leverage artificial intelligence to enhance their photos. This new capability, integrated within Google Photos, allows users to interact with the AI using natural language.
Users can provide editing instructions to the AI through either voice commands or text input, streamlining the photo modification process.
Simplifying the Editing Experience
This feature is specifically designed to simplify photo editing for individuals who may not be familiar with traditional editing tools or their locations within the application.
Previously, access to this Gemini-powered functionality was limited to users of the recently released Pixel 10 devices in the United States, starting in August.
How to Utilize the New Feature
To begin, users can select the “Help me edit” option within the photo editor. They can then describe the desired changes to the image.
If unsure about specific improvements, Gemini will offer suggestions, or users can simply request the AI to “make it better.”
Range of Editing Capabilities
The feature supports a wide array of edits, encompassing standard adjustments like lighting and the removal of unwanted elements.
More complex modifications are also possible, including object removal from backgrounds and the restoration of older photographs.
Furthermore, the AI can introduce imaginative, AI-generated elements into photos, fostering creative expression.
As edits progress, Gemini will accommodate subsequent requests, enabling users to refine their work with greater precision.
Availability and Content Credentials
Currently, AI editing is accessible to users aged 18 and above, residing in the U.S., and using the English language.
Alongside this AI feature, Google Photos now supports C2PA Content Credentials. This identifies images created or modified using artificial intelligence.
This content credential functionality initially debuted on Pixel devices but is now being extended to Android users, as confirmed by Google to TechCrunch.
