Google Drive Video Editing: New 'Vids' Shortcut

Google Enhances Drive Video Editing with New Vids Shortcut
Google revealed on Friday an improvement to the video editing process within Google Drive. This enhancement introduces a dedicated shortcut button for Vids, the company’s innovative AI-driven video creation platform.
Streamlined Video Editing Workflow
The newly implemented feature empowers Workspace subscribers to begin video editing utilizing Vids directly from within the Google Drive environment. When previewing a video file in Drive, users will now observe an “Open” button situated in the upper right-hand corner.
Selecting this button will launch the video within the Vids application. Vids will then automatically load the video file, enabling subsequent editing operations.
Functionality and Integration
These operations include functionalities such as trimming video clips and the addition of both musical scores and textual elements.
The default activation of this shortcut indicates a deepening integration of the Vids application with the broader Google Workspace ecosystem.
Vids: An Overview
Introduced last year, Vids is designed to simplify video production. It offers capabilities like generating videos from simple text prompts.
- Automatic script creation is also a key feature.
- Users can easily rearrange video clips.
- The platform facilitates the addition of transitions.
- And much more.
This update follows the May release of another Gemini AI feature for Workspace users. This prior feature enabled the use of AI to generate summaries of video files stored in Google Drive.
