Giraffe360 provides a robotic camera system, offered alongside a subscription plan, that empowers real estate professionals – agents and brokers – to create detailed, high-resolution property visuals, including floor plans and immersive virtual tours. The company has recently secured $4.5 million in a funding round spearheaded by LAUNCHub Ventures and Hoxton Ventures. HCVC (Hardware Club) and existing backer Change Ventures also contributed to this investment.

The company is capitalizing on the shift that began in 2020, as the need for remote property viewings increased significantly, largely due to circumstances surrounding the pandemic.

Giraffe360’s technology integrates a sophisticated sensor, lidar laser scanning, and robotic automation. The camera system is available to real estate agents and brokers on a subscription basis for £399 each month. Established in 2016 in Riga, Latvia by siblings Mikus Opelts and Madars Opelts, the company now operates from its headquarters in London, U.K.

Currently, the alternatives typically involve engaging a professional photographer or relying on agents to capture images themselves. Creating 3D renderings or virtual tours generally also necessitates the expertise of a professional.

In the United States, Matterport, a comparable business, has accumulated $114 million in funding to date.

According to Mikus Opelts, founder and CEO of Giraffe360, “The growth we’ve experienced demonstrates the value of our offering. We saw an 800% increase in subscriptions in 2019, and we anticipate even greater growth in 2020. This year, more than ever, our customers and potential property buyers and renters are embracing virtual viewings as the primary method for evaluating properties.”

Todor Breshkov, a partner at LAUNCHub Ventures, commented: “We consistently monitor developments within the proptech sector, and we are highly impressed by the capacity of Giraffe360’s product to bring modernization to the real estate market.”

Hussein Kanji, partner at Hoxton Ventures, stated: “Giraffe360 possesses significant global reach, serving customers in 26 countries, and includes prominent companies like RE/MAX, CBRE, and BNP Paribas Real Estate among its clientele.”
