Making Outbound Calls
A dialpad will become visible once a connection with Talkatone is established. Alternatively, numbers can be selected for calling via the icons located at the screen's upper portion, allowing access to your contacts, recent calls, or saved favorites.
Initiating a call is simply achieved by entering the desired number. No additional setup is required for this process!
Initial Call Setup
Should this be your first time making a phone call through the Gmail web interface, it may be necessary to open Gmail in a web browser and complete one outgoing call. This preliminary step ensures proper functionality of Talkatone with your Google account.
VoIP Integration
Talkatone also supports participation in Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) calls through platforms like Google Talk and Facebook. The Contacts panel provides a convenient means to begin calls with contacts from these services.
Using the Contacts pane, you can easily start conversations with individuals on both Google Talk and Facebook.
Utilizing Talkatone with Google Voice for SMS and Calls
For users located in the United States, Talkatone offers a way to send text messages and handle incoming calls using your existing Google Voice account. It provides functionalities often desired in the official Google Voice application.
This allows complete Google Voice account utilization through either a Wi-Fi or data connection. Should you require assistance, the "How To" section within the Help menu offers step-by-step guidance.
Receiving Incoming Calls
To enable call reception, access your Google Voice account settings and activate the "Forward to Google Chat" option. It is crucial to ensure you are signed out of the chat functionality within Gmail for this to function correctly.
Talkatone operates in the background after successful login. You will receive a notification whenever an incoming call is detected.
To confirm proper operation, it is recommended to place a test call to your own number.

For SMS functionality, activate the "Text Forwarding" feature within Google Voice. This directs text messages to your associated email address.
Once enabled, you can seamlessly send and receive text messages directly through the Talkatone application.
