Framous - Add Device Frames to Screenshots on Mac

Framous: A New Mac App for Professional Screenshots
A recently released Mac application, Framous, became available on Tuesday. It empowers users to enhance the presentation of screenshots by surrounding them with realistic device frames.
Designed for Professionals
This innovative tool is particularly beneficial for a wide range of professionals. This includes app developers, graphic designers, and journalists who frequently require device mockups for their work.
The application simplifies the creation of visually appealing assets. These assets are useful for purposes like App Store submissions, website landing pages, and article featured images.
The Origin of Framous
Charlie Chapman, the developer behind the popular Dark Noise app, created Framous to address a personal need. He sought a streamlined method for adding device frames to screenshots quickly and easily.
Previously, many individuals had to rely on more complex and time-consuming processes. These included searching for templates online and manually integrating screenshots.
Filling a Gap in the Market
While alternative solutions like iFrames (a Safari extension) and SMPRO (an iOS application) exist, a dedicated Mac-focused option was lacking. Framous directly addresses this need.
Efficiency and Ease of Use
Framous prioritizes efficiency. Users can simply drag and drop or copy and paste their screenshots directly into the application.
The app then automatically places the image within appropriate device frames, saving significant time and effort.
Key Features and Capabilities
The application boasts several key features, including:
- Automatic Detection: Intelligently selects the correct frame from a comprehensive library of devices.
- Device Variety: Supports frames for Mac, iPhone, Apple Watch, and Apple TV 4K.
- Multi-Device Composition: Allows combining multiple devices within a single image.
- Landscape Mode: Offers a dedicated landscape orientation for iPhones.
Customization Options
Framous provides extensive customization options to tailor the appearance of your screenshots.
Users can adjust the position of device buttons and modify the frame color. An edge-to-edge mode is also available, mirroring the aesthetic of contemporary iPhones.
Furthermore, images can be exported to popular design tools like Figma and Sketch for further refinement.
Future Development Plans
Charlie Chapman shared his vision for the app’s future with TechCrunch.
Planned enhancements include expanded customization controls for frame backgrounds, shadows, and padding. Support for video files and the ability to save custom templates are also in development.
An iOS version of Framous is also planned for release.
Availability and Pricing
Framous is currently available for free download from the Mac App Store.
A one-time purchase of $19.99 unlocks all frames released in 2025. Alternatively, a yearly subscription of $9.99 grants access to all newly released frames as they become available.
