Fort Robotics Secures $13 Million in Funding

Fort Robotics has recently announced the completion of a $13 million funding round. The investment was spearheaded by Prime Movers Lab, with significant participation from Prologis Ventures, Quiet Capital, Lemnos Labs, Creative Ventures, Ahoy Capital, Compound, FundersClub, and Mark Cuban.

Company Background and Origins

Founded in 2018 and based in Philadelphia, Fort Robotics was established by Samuel Reeves. Prior to this venture, Reeves led Humanistic Robotics, a Pennsylvania-based startup specializing in remote operating robotic systems designed for landmine and improvised explosive device (IED) clearance.

Focus on Robotics Safety and Cybersecurity

Unlike its predecessor, Fort Robotics concentrates on developing safety software for collaborative robotics and other autonomous systems. A key area of focus is addressing cybersecurity vulnerabilities within these workplace robotic environments.

The company also aims to mitigate risks associated with broader system failures and the potential for human error in robotic operations.

Current Client Base and Industry Applications

Fort Robotics currently collaborates with 100 companies. These clients span diverse sectors, including warehouse fulfillment, manufacturing, delivery services, and transportation.

Vision for the Future of Mobile Automation

“The world is on the cusp of a new industrial revolution in mobile automation,” stated Reeves in a press release. He further emphasized that increased investment will enable the company to scale rapidly and capitalize on emerging trends, ensuring the safe deployment of robotic systems across all industries.

Increased Investment in Robotics

The robotics sector has experienced considerable investment activity in the past year. This surge is largely attributed to growing interest in automation, particularly accelerated by the recent pandemic. Fort Robotics is strategically positioned to benefit from this trend, offering a solution applicable to a broad range of industry verticals.
