Find Keywords Driving Traffic with Google Analytics

Understanding Website Traffic with Google Analytics
Note: This guide pertains to a previous iteration of the Analytics platform.
Google Analytics represents a valuable, freely available resource for website owners seeking to monitor their site’s performance. However, accomplishing even routine tasks can sometimes prove surprisingly complex, often obscured within a layered menu structure featuring unconventional terminology.
Identifying Key Traffic Sources
A frequent requirement for webmasters and bloggers is determining the specific keywords driving traffic to their websites. This information is crucial for content optimization, enabling the strategic inclusion of relevant keywords within articles and posts.
To begin this process, first define the desired date range for analysis. The date selection tool is located in the bottom right corner of the Analytics interface.
Next, navigate through the following menu path: All Reports \ Marketing Optimization \ Marketing Campaign Results \ Source Conversion.
Once on this page, click the circular arrow icon, then select "Cross Segment Performance" and finally, choose "Keyword."
This action will display a graphical representation of your keyword data, alongside a detailed table. While a sample data table is not included here for privacy reasons, the resulting visualization will provide a clear overview of your website’s keyword performance.
Exporting Keyword Data
A complete list of identified keywords can be exported for further analysis. Simply select one of the available export formats, as illustrated below:
