GNOME Do can be obtained for the majority of prevalent Linux distributions via the download page, which also provides guidance for installation through repositories and direct downloads.

Compilation from source code is also an option if your specific distribution isn't supported.

For Ubuntu users, installation is streamlined with a single command.

The newest release is typically accessible through the repositories.

Open the Terminal application (found within Applications, then Accessories) and execute the following:

sudo apt-get install gnome-do

Confirm the installation by pressing Y when prompted.

The necessary packages will then be downloaded, extracted, and installed automatically.

Upon completion, GNOME Do will be located in the Applications menu, under Accessories.

Simply launch the application to begin using it.

Important: GNOME Do is also present in the standard Ubuntu repositories.

However, be aware that this version might not reflect the most recent updates available from the official source.

While I haven't personally tested Fedora or Debian, it's advisable to verify the currency of their respective packages and repositories.

It is also worth noting that the project has seen limited updates recently, but functionality was confirmed on Ubuntu 10.10.

GNOME Do: A Powerful Launcher

Upon initial startup of GNOME Do, users may observe a relatively simple interface. The launcher is organized into two distinct tabs: one for applications on the left, and another for commands or related actions on the right.

Its functionality can be readily tested by initiating a typing sequence. GNOME Do will dynamically suggest programs that correspond to the entered characters.

The Tab key facilitates navigation between these panels. For instance, typing "Terminal" will display the Launch in Terminal application link. Subsequently, pressing Tab and inputting a command, followed by Enter, will execute that command within a new terminal window.
