Figma and Google Partner to Integrate Gemini AI

Figma and Google Collaborate on AI Integration
Figma, a leading design platform, has announced a partnership with Google to incorporate advanced AI features. This collaboration aims to enhance the capabilities of the design software and cater to the changing requirements of product designers and their teams.
New Gemini Models for Figma
The integration will introduce several Gemini models to Figma’s toolkit. Specifically, Gemini 2.5 Flash, Gemini 2.0, and Imagen 4 will be added, while the existing relationship with Google Cloud will be maintained.
Enhanced Image Editing and Generation
Gemini 2.5 Flash will play a key role in improving image editing processes and Figma’s image generation functionality. With this addition, Figma’s 13 million monthly active users can create AI images using text prompts and request modifications.
Early testing of Gemini 2.5 Flash within Figma’s “Make Image” feature demonstrated a significant 50% reduction in latency, suggesting a substantial acceleration of workflows.
A Broader Trend in AI Integration
This partnership reflects a growing trend among major AI developers to integrate their models into established applications with large user bases. The goal is to gain prominence in the competitive landscape of AI adoption.
Notably, OpenAI recently announced similar functionality, allowing users to interact with apps within ChatGPT, including integrations with Spotify, Booking.com, and Canva. Figma was also included in OpenAI’s list, indicating the Google Gemini deal is not exclusive.
Gemini Enterprise and Wider Adoption
The announcement coincides with Google’s unveiling of Gemini Enterprise, a conversational AI platform designed for enterprise clients. This platform enables users to interact with company documents, data, and applications using AI.
Engineers will also gain access to tools for building and deploying AI agents, or utilizing a pre-existing suite of agents.
Focus on Enterprise Efficiency
Google emphasizes that these integrations are intended to boost efficiency and streamline workflows, representing a potential revenue stream as companies increasingly rely on AI-powered tools.
This strategy is particularly relevant given the challenges faced by many companies in successfully implementing GenAI pilots.
Growing Google Cloud AI User Base
Google reports that 65% of its Google Cloud customers are currently utilizing its AI products.
Expanding Partnerships
In addition to Figma, Google has announced AI partnerships with several other organizations, including GAP, Gordon Foods, Klarna, Macquarie Bank, Melexis, Mercedes, Signal Iduna, Valiuz, and Virgin Voyages.
These new partners join existing Gemini users such as Banco BV, Behr, Box, DBS Bank, Deloitte, Deutsche Telekom, FairPrice Group, and the U.S. Department of Energy.
