Dog Sleep Tracking Now Available with Fi Smart Collar
The age-old adage suggests letting sleeping dogs lie. However, owners are no longer prevented from monitoring their canine companions even during rest. Fi, a smart collar company headquartered in New York, has recently announced the inclusion of sleep tracking as a new capability for its device.
How the Sleep Tracking Works
This new functionality leverages the collar’s integrated motion sensors to observe your dog’s sleep patterns throughout both the day and night. It may even reveal that your pet receives a significantly greater amount of rest than you do.
The collected data is displayed on a timeline, mirroring the format used by many human sleep-tracking applications. A live check-in feature is also available, allowing owners to remotely observe their dog’s activities during the day, particularly useful for those who are away at work.
The primary objective of this feature is to provide owners with data that could indicate potential health concerns. This includes monitoring for deviations from normal sleep duration, insufficient rest, or frequent nighttime water consumption.
Sudden changes in sleep patterns can serve as important indicators of underlying health issues in dogs. Careful observation is key to early detection.
“We are thrilled to expand into comprehensive health monitoring, empowering dog owners to provide the best possible care for their pets,” stated Jonathan Bensamoun, founder and CEO of Fi, in a press release.
He continued, “Since dogs cannot verbally communicate their tiredness, Fi will do so. Fi can address crucial questions such as, ‘Is my dog sleeping adequately?’ or ‘Have activity levels recently declined?’ often before more serious problems emerge.”
Company Growth and Distribution
Fi secured $30 million in funding earlier this year, and is actively working to broaden its market presence within the United States.
This expansion includes a recent partnership with Chewy, a leading online retailer of pet supplies, to facilitate wider distribution of the Fi smart collar.
The company aims to provide valuable insights into canine health through data-driven monitoring.
