felicis’ aydin senkut and guideline’s kevin busque will look back on the series b deal that brought them together

Aydin Senkut is a remarkably versatile investor, consistently recognized on the Midas List for the last seven years. His early investments include well-known companies such as Shopify, Rovio, Fitbit, Ayden, Credit Karma, and SoundHound, among others.
One notable investment made by Senkut is Guideline, a technology company dedicated to providing small businesses with a straightforward and cost-effective solution for offering 401k plans to their employees. Guideline has secured approximately $140 million in funding from investors including Tiger Global Management, Greyhound, Generation Investment Management, Propel, and Felicis.
We are pleased to announce that Senkut and Kevin Busque, the founder and CEO of Guideline, will be featured on this week’s episode of Extra Crunch Live.
The revitalized Extra Crunch Live format brings together founders and the investors who participated in their initial funding rounds to discuss the details of their agreements. These conversations cover everything from their first meeting to the discussions they had – even points of contention – and the nature of their ongoing relationship. We may also examine the original pitch deck that led to the investment.
Following this discussion, we will turn to the audience. The founder and investor pair – in this instance, Guideline’s Kevin Busque and Felicis’ Aydin Senkut – will provide feedback on submitted pitch decks. (If you wish to have your pitch deck reviewed on Extra Crunch Live, you can submit it here.)
The one-hour episode is framed by two 30-minute networking sessions, running from 11:30 a.m. PST/2:30 p.m. EST to 1:30 p.m. PST/4:30 p.m. EST. Extra Crunch Live will continue to be presented at the same time each week, featuring a new set of speakers.
This episode will focus on the $15 million Series B investment led by Felicis in Guideline. We will explore how Senkut and Busque initially connected, what drew them to each other, and the factors that led them to commit to a long-term financial partnership.
Let’s take a closer look at Senkut and Busque.
Prior to establishing Felicis Ventures (where he currently serves as managing partner), Senkut held a senior management position at Google, overseeing strategic partner development and account management in the Asia Pacific region. He initially joined Google in 1999 as the company’s first product manager, tasked with launching Google’s initial international websites, and later became its first international sales manager.
Senkut possesses a well-developed skillset and a diverse investment portfolio, encompassing both angel and institutional investments.
Kevin Busque launched Guideline in 2015 and has since grown the platform to include over 17,500 small businesses managing nearly $4 billion in assets. Before Guideline, Busque was a co-founder and VP of Technology at TaskRabbit for seven years. He has a thorough understanding of the process of developing an idea into a viable product, achieving product-market fit, and scaling for rapid growth.
